Here’s the piece we ran recently regarding Transaero.
While Easyjet’s traffic is point-to-point, BA is of course a transfer carrier and so it has lost Russian passengers who would have changed planes at LHR for points further away.
A similar situation would have been seen at other European, Gulf and Asian airlines.
It’s hard to believe but Emirates, who was operating a daily A380 service into Moscow every day, had planned to increase that to double-daily A380 flights in the summer of 2014.
But demand slumped and plans for the second daily A380 service were scrapped.
And then in September it was announced that Emirates would remove its single A380 flight and replace it with a smaller B777-300 which remains the current situation, i.e. double-daily flights with B777s.
