So who takes over AA? The maximum shareholding allowed is 25%. Qatar on the other hand, or AA for that matter, could get 49% maximum of IAG.
It sounds like a potential mess to me with the minority shareholders losing out.

I, for one, would like IAG to remain independent and thus able to direct its own policy.

If you need any examples of manipulation (sorry, policy direction) look at Virgin Atlantic´s 49% shareholding by Delta(losing its African, Indian and Asian flights). Also watch Etihad´s manip…, I mean direction of Air Berlin and Alitalia — all channeled through Abu Dhabi. Why not let somebody else come in and take over, Cathay Pacific, JAL, a Russian airline like S7, Qantas? The possibilities are varied – the end of the line options being the specially advantageous ones.

The bully boys win in the end.
