Brother Jim, I do get the imperative of subbing a short haul 767 given earlier explanations and I possess no rose coloured spectatcles – professional life in Central Asia long since removed them. I appreciate BA had limited options given the knackered 767 issues – and I have hardly ever had cause to worry about their safety, unlike, the Turkish alternative option. My continuing beef is that I don’t feel BA really appreciate the scale of product diminution, at least where it comes to compensation. I also am left concluding that routes such as Almaty are the poor relation in every respect, which is not a function of profitability (at least based on fare levels) but of the total absence of meaningful competition. I am not surprised but I am disappointed. As a result, I feel a bit less loyal to BA than I did 72 hours ago. And I fly a lot.
