I suspect some people view the lounges as a place to hold conference calls, which the technology is making easier on the move. Some do offer private cubicles and meeting rooms for such purposes, and it would be good if silence was accepted as the norm, and any other activities such as watching endless news or holding any kind of meeting delegated to specific areas.

I find that the quiet coach concept on trains doesn’t tend to work, as they focus on mobile conversations only – ok eliminating these is a good start, but all sorts of other sources of noise still get on your wick. To start with, the incessant, louder and longer announcements from the crew. It would go a long way to being the quiet coach if they shut up.
