I found the signature suites @ the rear of the MGM grand to be a great compromise. These are individually own apartments that MGM have rights to use for most nights of the year.
Consists of 3 towers totally separate from the main MGM hotel with their own gated arrival entrance and own check-in areas. No casino in any of the towers, moving covered walkways take you to the rear of the MGM itself in 10-15 minutes depending on which tower you are in where you have all the eating options, shops etc. Walk straight thru the MGM and you are on the strip. After a day of the lights and sounds of vegas, I found it a great way of leaving “vegas” behind for the night and having a normal nights rest.
I rented one of these direct from the owner, and saved about 30% on the MGM website price. Can’t recall the owners website I used. Was only up and running a year or two at the time, so the 1 bed apartment looked very fresh, and had upscale features. Rear over-looks airport, some rooms have a partial strip view.
Stayed in both the palazzo and venetian in a 2011 holiday, good upmarket properties, big rooms. Especially good experience if you are an IHG Royal Ambassador, as you get access to the VIP lounges and upgrades etc.
