Methinks the Beeb is increasingly being of the belief that to engage with its audience it needs to have presenters equally naïve in the subject they are presenting. The classic being clueless Ferne Cotton and the Queen’s jubilee.
Do the Beeb feel its audience is intimidated by presenters with knowledge and gravitas? How wrong they are. The Beeb, unlike the advertising channels, has a duty, is mandated to educate. Seldom have I been educated by someone who knows zero about the subject at hand. In its effort to be populist, the Beeb is in contravention of its mandate.
