Though we purchased our Club RT TLV-MIA via a travel agent, the segment from LHR to Miami was operated by a code share flight operated by AA,and the agent forgot to mention that,it was still a perk for me.

I covered the poor transfer experience in LHR in a different post.

Unlike BA’s 8 across, zigzagging in and out of your narrow seat, plus the partition between seats being pushed up and down to serve your food( who was the genius to come up with that system I wonder)….,AA 4 across with each seat having isle access was great. You get high quality noise cancelling headphones which the crew collects well before landing,( i.e. Expensive item) but they do provide you with regular Economy earphones so you can keep watching movies or listen to music,vs BA poor quality earphones.I found the seat cushions on AA very hard, which I really had to pad with a blanket and a pillow to feel comfortable.Crew was all mature males, provided efficient quick service, but no interaction with passengers.Food was better than BA in my opinion, and the bar they set up in the galley for mid flight nibbles was just amazing.Huge selections of fruit salads, fruit, sandwiches, cakes, wraps etc.Compared to BA only offering Lemon flavor cookies on the way back…not even fresh fruit.Embaressing sight. Not to mention inoperable IFE and ceiling lights,i.e.,romantic dining in the dark…so AA’s hard product is definitely superior to BA’s,but crews were equally uninterested in their passengers, not using a list of names to welcome you onboard using your name,no smiles, very robotic…..’let’s get it over with it quickly ‘ kind of approach. So I would choose AA to cross the pond if it’s their new 77W,at least everything works, and your seat is not falling apart.
I’m amazed that BA still uses their B747,which is not the issue, the issue is the miserable condition of the cabin.I guess they are about to be retired,so why spend money on them….on the other hand they have no shame to charge you thousands of dollars to fly them.
Usually a blanket compensation is given when IFE is inoperable in Business, but BA didnt bother besides a quick apology over the PA.

The whole flight, from uninterested cabin crew,to shabby cabin,it was a poor show indeed.I wonder if they operate two types of B744, refreshed cabins and ones with a tatty cabin.Anybody? Thanks for reading my report.
