Swiss watchmaker, Rado has launched a vintage-inspired, limited edition model under the HyperChrome 1616 collection. It is a modern interpretation of its vintage Cape Horn collection that first launched in 1960; and the number in the collection’s name — 1616 — is taken from the year Cape Horn, the rocky headland was discovered by the West.

HyperChrome 1616’s newest edition showcases nuances from the 1960s. Its boxy dial measures 46mm, a typical aesthetic of the era that believed in outsized forms. The hands and indexes are equally imposing, and stand out against the vivid blue dial. This handsome timepiece is finished with a thick, textured vintage leather strap. Everything about it speaks of masculinity. Its rugged build and water resistance up to 10 metres makes it suitable for adventures on land and in water.

The new HyperChrome 1616 joins three other timekeepers in the collection — one hardened titanium counterpart with a light-coloured dial, as well as two high-tech ceramic pieces in black and brown. rado.com
