Although vaccines and boosters are being rolled out across the world, it is possible that you will need to present a negative Covid-19 test should you wish to travel for work or leisure. Note that some countries do not require a test for entry – see:

Where can I travel without a Covid-19 test?

There are various tests on offer which range in price and accuracy. See our feature Which Covid-19 tests allow you to travel’ for more details.

Some airlines offer discounts on tests when you book a reservation with them. Here we round up the various offers available. We will keep this page regularly updated with the latest news.

Note that some airlines also have deals with airport testing centres – see our feature Which airports are offering Covid-19 tests’ for further information.

Covid-19 testing

Qured provides portable rapid antigen test kits which use a diagnostic lateral flow device (LFD) to detect a protein found inside the virus. The kits are self-administered with a supervised video call for guidance.

Customers can use the kits to travel to foreign destinations that accept antigen tests. The results are available within 20 minutes of collecting the sample. See our review of the service with AA’s joint business and Oneworld partner British Airways here.

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic has partnered with UK health firm Prenetics to offer at-home tests and packages based on the UK’s new traffic light system.

A dedicated microsite helps customers navigate the testing requirements required for their destination.

Customers can use the filter on the website to select the country they are travelling to and choose whether it’s a one-way or return trip. The site will then show the specific tests required for travel and will present the most suitable test bundle.

The testing packages are based on the current requirements, and will be subject to regular review.

Note that some countries will accept self-tests but other will only accept tests performed by a medical clinician.
