The Suite Life: Presidential suites in Indian hotels

For frequent business travellers, missing home is the sad part that comes with the job. What if you can take the family with you and make a staycation out of it? Below is a list of seven Indian hotels whose presidential suites can be transformed into a private corporate dining affair, with luxurious amenities that can be enjoyed after the event.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore

The hotel’s F&B team can work with you in preparing a set menu for a sit-down meal around the ten-seater dining table. The 42-inch television in the dining area, separated from the living room by a wall, can be connected to the laptop. On request, a projector or a larger 50-inch television can be rolled into the room, at no additional cost.

The separate media room can fit eight people on sofas arranged around a coffee table in front of a 55-inch television. The pantry has a microwave.

The Ritz-Carlton suite offers complimentary goodies such as juices, cookies, nuts and chocolates, in addition to still and sparkling water bottles. These can be offered to your guests and replenished by the suite’s butler when required.

The two bedrooms are inter-connected – one has a double bed and the other has twin beds. The two attached bathrooms have a separate shower and bathtub. The ten-seater dining table is laid out with glassware and cutlery. This is where the sit-down dinner can be hosted. The menu can be discussed with the hotel’s F&B team for a curated meal with as many courses depending on how lavish you wish it to be.

The dining room rolls into the living room that also has the work desk. The separate bedroom has an attached bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a shower. On request, it can be connected through a door to the adjoining Premiere room (third category upwards of the standard room) that also has a separate shower and a bathtub. This comes at an additional cost. The powder room is accessible through the living room.

Both the bedroom and the living room have a 40-inch television each. A projector can be fitted into the room too, but this will be charged.

Although there is a fully equipped kitchenette, on phoning the property, I was informed that outside food is strictly prohibited within the hotel premises.

Both bedrooms within the suite have a king size bed. While the master bathroom has a Jacuzzi, the second bathroom has a bathtub in addition to a shower. The powder room is accessible through the living room. Bedrooms have a 40-inch Blu-ray television and the living room has a 55-inch television. A projector can be requested for from banquets, which will be provided at an additional cost.

There is a separate study area with a well sized work desk on one end of the sprawling living room, and at the other end, a ten-seater dining table. For an informal set-up, guests can gather around the coffee table where snacks from the a la carte menu can be ordered via room service as an option.

The F&B team can assist in curating a cosy dining experience. A set menu can be worked on, apart from the in-room à la carte menu. The kitchenette has a microwave, should you wish to bring your own food and heat it here.

In addition to these in-room facilities, there is a gym with free weights and a treadmill, and a treatment room where therapists from the hotel’s ESPA spa can be booked for a couple’s massage at an additional cost. Considering the plush amenities within the suite, complimentary services are limited to free wifi, water bottles and a fruit basket.

A fruit platter welcomes guests into the room. The dining area is separated from the cosy living room by a 65-inch television. The living room has two sets of sofas and a coffee table that face the television; this is one option to make a presentation as the projector cannot be wheeled into the suite. The other option is the 55-inch television facing the dining table that can seat eight people. Wifi is free.

A sit-down meal can be curated when pre-decided with the F&B team. There is also the option of a 24 hours in-room dining from the à la carte menu. The pantry has a microwave.

A small library that doubles as an office space holds a work desk and the second 55-inch television. The only bedroom in the suite too has a 55-inch television, as well as a 21-inch television in the bathroom that has a separate bathtub and shower. For further relaxation, a therapist from the hotel’s Quan Spa can be requested for treatments in the room.

ITC Kakatiya

An assigned butler is available round the clock in case assistance is required. The suite is divided into a bedroom with a queen size bed, pantry with a microwave, dining room with a six-seater dining table and a living room with a sofa arrangement around a coffee table. There is a clear demarcation of the area with the work desk, almost like a secluded corner. The bathroom attached to the master bedroom has a Jacuzzi and a separate shower. The powder room is part of the living room.

In case the 40-inch television in the living room isn’t adequate to run a presentation, a projector can be requested for, which will be provided at an additional cost. Wifi is free.

Guests of the Presidential suite can request for a customised menu with dishes of their choice, apart from what’s already on offer. The pantry has a microwave.

The free goodies to greet guests are lavish – a fruit platter, chef’s special dessert, savoury sticks with dips and a cheese platter. This, however can change as per the guest’s preference.

The Oberoi Grand, Kolkatta

Both Presidential suites on the property are actually a Luxury suite connected to a standard room to stretch it into a Presidential suite. They have a total of five balconies, including those in the standard rooms.

The two large bathrooms of the Presidential suites have a large bathtub and a separate shower. The bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with a king size bed, both have a 32-inch television.

A fruit platter and fresh flowers, replenished daily, welcome you into the suite. Within is a dining room that can seat four people. A set menu can be pre-decided when entertaining guests, as an alternative to the in-room dining à la carte menu.

Additional to the 32-inch television in the living room, there is a work desk, and a second desk in the connected standard room. In case the need for a projector arises, one can be rolled into the room at an additional cost. The hotel also encourages you to avail of the fully-equipped boardroom with a projector that allows daily complimentary access to guests occupying suites.

The facility of a pantry is missing from this suite category.

Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel

The two-bedroom suite comes with a separate living room, dining room with a six-seater table and a kitchenette. The second  bedroom is actually the adjacent, interconnecting room.

The master bedroom is attached to a bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a separate shower; the second bathroom doesn’t have a bathtub. The powder room is situated at the entrance of the suite.

Of the five LED televisions in the suite, there is one each in the bedrooms, bathroom with the Jacuzzi, study, and the living and dining rooms. A projector can be provided too, at an extra cost. Wifi is free.

A set-menu can be pre-decided with the F&B team, in addition to the à la carte in-room dining option. During each day of the stay, guests of the Presidential suite will have a complimentary fruit basket and assorted cookies. Adding to this is the culinary team’s personalised offering specially to welcome the guest.
