The sixth Shangri-La property to open in the Philippines, Shangri-La at the Fort is a mixed-use development in the heart of Bonifacio Global City (BCG) – Metro Manila’s emerging lifestyle centre. The 576-room hotel occupies levels 18-40, with 46 suites, seven restaurant and bars and 6,000 sqm of event space. The complex also includes Shangri-La Residences, occupying floors 9-17 with a range of 97 one- two- and three-bedroom apartments; Kerry Sports Manila – a recreation club with a health club, swimming pool, basketball course and boxing gym; and Horizon Homes, offering 98 private residences on the top floors.

Conrad Manila

Opened: June 15, 2016

With award-winning architecture, Conrad Manila makes a striking addition to the Bay City Area. Located on the seafront side of the SM Mall of Asia, the property is perched above the high-end S Maison shopping complex and is also directly connected to the SMX Convention Center. There are 347 rooms, split into five categories and three F&B venues, plus a bar by the luxurious resort-style pool. Other leisure options include a 24-hour fitness centre and spa with six treatment rooms.

Grand Hyatt Manila

With a launch scheduled for Q2 2017, Grand Hyatt Manila “aspires to become the metropolis’s leading icon of dining, lifestyle and entertainment” when it opens in the BCG area. The five-star hotel will offer 461 rooms including 52 suites, with striking views of the Makati skyline and Manila Bay thanks to a location on the top 25 floors of the new 318-metre Metrobank Financial Center – the tallest building in the Philippines. The Grand Kitchen, Cellar and China House will offer up multicultural culinary delights, while the Grand Ballroom and Salons will provide premium event space.

Citadines Millenium Ortigas Manila

Also coming in 2017 will be Ascott’s Citadines Millennium Ortigas Manila offering 293 premier units “designed for young business executives” and ranging from studio to one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Each will offer separate living and dining areas, with a fully equipped kitchen and wifi. Other facilities will include a guest lounge, swimming pool and fitness centre. Located in the northern part of Manila, the serviced residence will still have easy access to Makati City.

Savoy Hotel Manila

Property giant Megaworld is also planning to launch the second of its Savoy hotels in Newport City, a stone’s throw from Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The 684-room property is billed as a “condotel” – a hybrid model that offers apartments for private ownership that will be operated
like a hotel.

Sheraton Manila Hotel

Looking further ahead, Sheraton Manila Hotel has announced an opening date of March 15, 2018. The new 350-room Starwood property will also be located in Newport City, as part of the Resorts World Manila complex, directly across from Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Villamor Golf Course.

Novotel Manila Emerald Suites

The following year will see the opening of Novotel Manila Emerald Suites. Accorhotels has partnered with Century Properties to develop the sixth tower of the luxury waterfront Acqua Private Residences development in Mandaluyong City – just a bridge away from the Makati CBD. The four-star brand will offer 310 guestrooms ranging from 31 sqm studios to 87 sqm premier suites. Other facilities will include an all-day dining café and restaurant, infinity pool, gym and executive lounge.

Novotel's Superior Room

The Westin Manila Bayshore and The Westin Manila Sonata Place

Starwood’s Westin brand is also set to make a big splash in Metro Manila. The Westin Manila Bayshore is scheduled for a 2018 opening in the Resorts World Bayshore Entertainment City development in Paranaque City. The wellness-themed hotel will boast 600 rooms and offer 2,300 sqm of event space. Hot on its heels will be The Westin Manila Sonata Place, opening at the start of 2019 with 300 guestrooms located in the Ortigas business district of Pasig City in Metro Manila.

Mandarin Oriental Manila

Finally, in 2014 the Mandarin Oriental Manila shut its doors after almost 40 years of operation. However, the group has signed a contract for the branding and management of a new property in 2020. The 275-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use development in Makati City, and will be owned and operated by Ayala Land Hotels & Resorts.
