Insider’s View: Flo Marinez is chef concierge at The Alex

26 Nov 2007 by Mark Caswell
"We had a couple who with one week’s notice wanted to get married at Daniel, a very popular upmarket French restaurant, but we managed to arrange it for that Sunday. We’ve also done engagements. A gentleman rang up and on short notice asked for our help because he wanted to propose on a trip to New York. We arranged for them to be taken by a limo from the hotel to a matinee, then on to Central Park for a picnic at Bethesda Fountain with champagne and the engagement ring hidden in the picnic basket. It all worked out fine and they had dinner at The View, the revolving restaurant in Times Square at the Marriott Marquis, then came back to the hotel room where we’d covered the bed with rose petals. They sent me photos of the honeymoon. At times like that, this is the best job in the world.”

La Esquina 106 Kenmare St; tel +1 646 613 7100; esquinanyc.com Like a speakeasy, with a subterranean restaurant and a great ambience. 3.
