I have just tried to book 2 J flights with BA for travel in 11 days from now and just as I enter the final payment details I get the message..

“Unfortunately our systems are not responding, so we are unable to process your request at the moment.

We apologise for this inconvenience and suggest you try again later.”

If this were my company and my IT systems were preventing me concluding a transaction from a Client who was looking to give me custom and paying me money, I would line up my chief IT people and fire one of them (as an example to others that nothing gets in the way of my Clients giving me business and paying me)

Looks like BA’s loss will be Lufthansa (Swiss)’s gain

I’ve come across a similar message, basically saying a technical fault had occurred when making a recent booking with Swiss. I was told that if someone else was also looking to book the same flight/fare and they press continue before you, they get the fare and you get the tech message!

Maybe that explains it with your BA booking SwissExPat?

Yesterday the BA mobile site was quoting incorrect fares. LHR EDI £45 out £57 back, pressed Go to book and next page says £267 please. £104 all in from Easyjet and £3:50 for a Pret Sarnie. Job done.

Using the BA full site on the iPhone has become impossible. Strange things going on with CSS if anyone from the BA IM team (who I rate very highly) is reading.

I too have had some odd fares in recent days with fares of 79 each way coming out at over £200.

BA.com redemption booking service was and is woeful and full of glitches which generate the message the first poster has encountered.

There are similar reports on other sites and so it appears that there is a widespread, albeit intermediate issue with BA.com

Perhaps a strategy to increase revenue from fees again given than not being able to do something on BA.com is no longer a reason for having fees waived.

My latest booking to BCN yesterday showed a flight time of 8hrs 05 mins from manage my booking. Not sure what routing that is…….

Due to 767s being refurbished, BA is pressing some of its legacy fleet back into service and they are a bit slower, due to the extra ironmongery adorning the wings, thus 8h05 to BCN.

The cabin has been upgraded from CE standards, though.

Ahh, FormerlyDoS, That must be the answer. Always wanted to have a harness and stand on the wing in flight, it might be the best place from the look of the interiors! Perhaps they do a “jump off at BCN” service as they fly over en route to MAD. If you landed heavily they’d give you 10avios.

The message above continued to appear today and I cound not make the booking as I wanted.

It was a Avios + Cash booking.

The problem was repeatable and occurred every time I changed the country when entering the address for the credit card.

In the end, I was able to complete the transaction by using a UK credit card with a UK billing address.

Hence at the moment, BA are not taking Avios + Cash bookings from non UK resident persons (ie those with overseas billing addresses)

I am guessing that this is probably a low priority for BA but it demonstrates a completely careless attitude to its FF customers.

This type of problem is not unique to BA, nor even to travel related sites. Nearly every time I try to book a journey beginning from a country which is not the same as that of the billing address for the card used, I run into problems.

It also happens when the delivery address for a purchase is not in the same country as the billing address. The only merchant that seems capable of dealing with this is Amazon, a big thumbs up to them!

I was booking 2 CE Avios flights online yesterday to Rome and had a similar issue but it only happened a couple of times before it went through. One thing I can add is that i actually messed up my dates and i could not get the correct dates on line. I picked up the phone to EC and the sorted it strait away, got the availability I wanted when the site showed none

trying to book some avios awards bookings on CX – whilst there is always availability, the system will not take the booking though to payment.

Same time, am able to booke Europe flights on BA with avios as well as Air Belin.

Anyone else having gremlins at the moment??
