Four Seasons Private Island opens in Voavah, “the world’s first exclusive-use UNESCO hideaway” in the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives.

The atoll is made up of 75 islands spread across 1,200km and has the world’s largest population of manta rays and a riche coral reef system.

The seven-bedroom private island-resort is the fourth property by Four Seasons in the region.

The hospitality brand has one resort each on the Maldivian islands of Kuda Huraa, Landaa Giraavaru and Male’ Atoll.

Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah stretches across five acres. Its seven bedrooms are built on the beach or over the lagoon on sturdy stilts.

The island has a two-storey beach house, a PADI 5-Star Dive Centre, pools, a spa, a white powder beach, vibrant reef, and extreme water sports.

The beach house features an open-air living room, dining room, pool deck, library, kitchen, gym, and a loft lounge.

Ocean of Consciousness Spa holds yoga and meditation classes in addition to relaxing treatments.

A 19-metre yacht (capacity for 22 people) is available on hire for cruising around the islands.

A 30-minute feyy from Voavah is Hanifaru Bay, a manta feeding ground. The marine biodiversity surrounding Voavah also include large mangroves, great frigatebird, sea turtles, and hawksbill turtles.

Gan is one of the more populated islands in the south of Maldives. It is on SriLankan Airlines’ recently announced plans to expand its network to 11 destinations in Asia and the Middle East.

Direct flight UL119 takes off from Colombo at 0701 and arrives at Gan Island at 0835.

Return flight UL120 takes off from Gan Island at 0905 and arrives at Colombo at 1125.

The service on B737-800 will commence from November 14.

Flight LV 304 departs from Male’ at 1515 and arrives in Delhi at 1925 on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

There are two flight options from Delhi:

Flight LV 305 departs from Delhi at 0850 and reaches Male’ at 1235 on Tuesday and Friday.

Flight LV 305 departs from Delhi at 1000 and reaches Male’ at 1350 on Sunday.

This is the first direct service between the two capital cities.

MEGA Maldives Airlines will launch a service between its home city, Male’ and the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo on November 3. It will fly thrice a week — Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Flight 334 will depart Male’ at 1310, and arrive in Colombo at 1450.

Flight 335 will depart Colombo at 1550, and arrive in Male’ at 1655.

A release by the airline states: In August this year, MEGA received an Air Operators Permit to fly to India. MEGA Maldives Airlines will launch non-stop capital-to-capital services between Male’ and New Delhi in the very near future followed by services to India’s commercial and financial centre, Mumbai, shortly thereafter.

Currently the airline flies to Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Palau, Shanghai, and Tokyo. megamaldivesair.com
