The flag carrier of Latvia has announced that it has opened booking for flights between the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, and Dubai. The move follows approvals granted by the Lithuanian government to do so.

Flights from Vilnius to Dubai as part of the airline’s winter season schedule will be operated twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The flights will commence from November 1, and the expected flight time is around 6 hours and 35 minutes.

The new route will complement the already existing all-year-round route between Riga and Dubai.

Mantas Vrubliauskas, vice president of Network Development at Air Baltic, said, “We are excited to announce the launch of the direct flight between Vilnius and Dubai for the first time. Dubai is becoming one of the most popular destinations for Lithuanians in winter, and last year there were almost 17,000 passengers travelling between Vilnius and Dubai. With this new nonstop route we will be making their journey much faster and more comfortable.”

The carrier already released details of its flight schedule for the upcoming winter season. It is launching 11 new routes from the Baltics and Tampere (Finland), and will offer almost 70 routes across its network to connect Riga and other cities in the region.

Since May 2020, the carrier operates all its flights with a single aircraft type – Airbus A220-300. It has carried more than 11,600,000 passengers on the Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Its Airbus A220-300 fleet have completed nearly 133,000 flights and flown over 289,000 block hours.

This month, the Latvian national airline took possession of its 42nd Airbus A220-300 aircraft. It was the third Airbus A220-300 delivered to the airline this year. It is a part of the 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft which it has ordered. Additionally, the airline also holds 30 options and purchase rights for the same aircraft type.
