IHG Hotels and Resorts has partnered with Arkan Palm for Real Estate Investment to build two new hotels in Egypt’s capital of Cairo.

The InterContinental West Cairo 205 is scheduled to open in January 2028, while the voco West Cairo 205 Suites will open by June 2026.

The two hotels will be a part of the 1 million sqm mixed-use 205 an Arkan Palm Development in West Cairo, which will also feature offices, residential units, retail outlets, business parks and hospitals.

The dual hotel signing will add 390 rooms to IHG’s portfolio in Egypt. It currently has seven hotels operating across four brands in Egypt, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites, besides a pipeline of 13 hotels due to open in the next two-five years.

The InterContinental West Cairo 205 will feature 250 keys and offer four dining options, including an all-day dining, specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge and a bar. The hotel’s meeting and events space will total 1,110 sqm, including a ballroom. The hotel will also include a club lounge, spa, health club and swimming pool.

The voco West Cairo 205 Suites meanwhile will feature 140 rooms and one dining option as well as a grab-and-go eatery, along with a health club.

Both the properties which are a 45-minute drive away from the Cairo International Airport will be located close to several key destinations including the Pyramids and the upcoming Grand Egyptian Museum.

Haitham Mattar, managing director of India, Middle East and Africa at IHG, said, “We’re delighted to announce the signing of two newly built hotels in Egypt, and expand our luxury and premium offering in the country. The new InterContinental West Cairo 205 builds on the brand’s long-standing legacy in Egypt and strengthens our luxury portfolio in the capital. Also gaining momentum in the country is our premium brand voco. Badreldin Group is our existing partner. We opened Crowne Plaza West Cairo Arkan, the first Crowne Plaza hotel in Egypt, last year. We are delighted to continue the partnership and bring more world-class hospitality options to the growing sector in Egypt.”

In March, IHG signed a management agreement with Arabella Group to open three new new-build hotels in Egypt between 2023 and 2026. The hotels – InterContinental North Coast Direction White, voco Cairo Arabella Plaza Cairo, and Crowne Plaza Cairo Arabella Clubhouse – will cumulatively add over 500 keys to IHG’s Egypt portfolio.
