KLM Cityhopper is being forced to make “minor adjustments”to its summer timetable, as a result of issues with its fleet of Embraer E195-E2 jet aircraft.

The regional subsidiary of KLM said in a statement that technical issues meant the carrier was having difficulty “fully deploying the E2”.

The carrier currently has a fleet of 14 E2 aircraft, and simpleflying.com reports that engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney “has been unable to complete the required updates to the components and software of its PW1900G engines”.

KLM Cityhopper said it was consulting with Embraer and Pratt & Whitney “to seek a solution for these issues, which have no impact on flight safety”.

The airline said that the enforced flight adjustments would affect services scheduled to depart “several months from now”, and added that it had deployed alternative capacity by retaining E190 aircraft that had been due to be returned to lease companies, as well as signing several wet lease agreements.

It’s not clear which KLM Cityhopper services will be affected by the adjustments – the carrier’s Amsterdam-London City flights are generally operated by the Embraer E190, with the E195-E2 serving destinations including Dublin and Zurich.

Embraer reached the milestone of 1,700 deliveries of its E-Jet family of aircraft in October last year, with an E195-E2 delivery to KLM Cityhopper.
