Accor has announced plans to further expand its Mercure offering in the UK, with the addition of two existing properties.
The 18th century Georgian hotel Stifford Hall in Thurrock will join the Mercure brand this year following a renovation project. The property is set within six acres of landscaped gardens next to Mardyke Valley Golf Club, and features 97 rooms, a restaurant, bar, library and seven meeting rooms.
Meanwhile a 146-room hotel in Northampton is also set to join the Mercure brand following a renovation project, with facilities including 12 meeting rooms accommodating up to 600 guests.

The Mercure portfolio currently counts over 810 properties worldwide, with 81 of these in the UK.
The new additions follow the recent opening of the new-build Mercure Paignton, overlooking the seaside town’s promenade, pier and beach.
Commenting on the news Philip Lassman, vice president development, Accor Northern Europe, said:
“It is great to see the continued expansion of the Mercure brand across the UK. These signings are the latest announcements within a strong pipeline across Europe, signifying the strength of the internationally-recognized Mercure brand and industry-leading services to boost revenues for hotel owners, alongside the ability to retain the individual style and character of a boutique hotel.”
