The Hoxton has opened its latest European property in Berlin, with the unveiling of a 234-room hotel in Charlottenburg.
The property is located a few minutes from the city’s shopping boulevard Ku’damm and has been designed by AIME Studios, Ennismore’s in-house design firm, with interiors that combine Art Nouveau aesthetics with Brutalist silhouettes and textures. Dubbed “rough nouveau”, the design features unrefined plaster walls, Art Deco light fittings and vintage furnishings, along with industrial materials and emerald-green tiling.
Facilities include a winter garden set within the hotel’s lobby, North Indian-inspired restaurant House of Tandoor and the adjoining The Teahouse, which transforms from a café into a cocktail bar as night falls. The hotel’s The Apartment meetings and events space, comprising three spaces, is located under the eaves of the hotel and set around a central pantry kitchen.

Rooms, meanwhile, come in seven categories (Shoebox, Cosy, Cosy Neighbourhood, Roomy, Roomy Twin, Biggy and Biggy Up) and all include the brand’s signature features – Roberts radios, Naturalmat mattresses and guides to the area. Minifridges include fresh milk and water, with coffee and tea also provided, while a selection of snacks and drinks can be bought at the front desk.
On the dining side, The Teahouse offers a breakfast buffet with naan sandwiches, Indian-influenced pastries, loose-leaf tea and masala chai, while House of Tandoor offers dishes cooked in three large tandoor ovens alongside tea-infused cocktails and natural wines from small German and Austrian producers. Interiors at both are inspired by the opulence of the grand palaces and hotels in Kolkata and Bombay in the 1920s.
The hotel has partnered with Refugio, an organisation that provides housing, advice and support for refugees in Berlin. The Hoxton will make financial contributions, donate essential linen, towels and bedding, and arrange regular staff volunteering. The House of Tandoor will also offer guests the opportunity to add an optional €1 donation to their bill to benefit Refugio’s projects.

The Hoxton brand launched in London’s Shoreditch in 2006, and is part of global lifestyle hotel company Ennismore, in which Accor holds a majority stake.
The Hoxton has 11 hotels open across Europe and North America in locations including London, Paris, Amsterdam Rome, Barcelona, New York, Portland, Chicago, Downtown Los Angeles.
