Hilton has opened reservations for the first new-build property under its meetings and events-focused Signia brand.
The 976-room Signia by Hilton Atlanta is scheduled to open its doors on March 15, 2024, and is the largest ground-up hotel development in the city’s downtown area for 40 years.
The property is owned by Georgia World Congress Center Authority, and will benefit from direct access to the centre via a pedestrian walkway, as well as offering more than 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting space in its own right, including the largest hotel ballroom in Georgia.
Built on the site of the demolished Georgia Dome, the hotel will overlook Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home to Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and MLS team Atlanta United FC), and will feature six food and beverage options, as well as a fitness centre with yoga stations and Peloton bikes, a spa and a beauty bar.
Hilton launched the Signia brand in 2019, with the stated aim of “transforming the industry for meeting professionals and sophisticated business travellers by infusing state-of-the-art technology and design into every aspect of the guest experience”.
To date there are two Signia hotels open – Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, and Signia by Hilton San Jose. Recent reports suggest the latter (formerly the Fairmont San Jose) maybe be set to be downsized, following the owner’s plans to put the southern tower of the property up for sale.
Hilton recently added The Starling Atlanta Midtown to its Curio Collection of independent properties, and in 2021 the group opened the 249-room Hilton Alpharetta Atlanta, situated about 35 miles north of Atlanta’s city centre.
