ITA Airways has launched a new service allowing customers to lock the price of a flight for a period of 72 hours.

The ‘Time to Think’ service is available up to eight days before the flight departure date, on all 64 destinations offered by the carrier.

Customers can choose to lock-in the price of a flight during the booking process for a period of 72 hours, for a fee of between €5 and €15 depending on the route.

Note that the fee – which is charged regardless of whether the customer ends up completing the booking – is applicable per person, and must be purchased on both legs of a return trip. The service is free of charge for children under two years of age.

Other carriers offer a similar service, including British Airways which also allows prices to be held for 72 hours for a deposit (refundable when the booking is completed) of £5 for short-haul flights and £10 for long-haul services.

ITA Airways recently unveiled a raft of new products and services, including new uniforms, a new lounge at Rome Fiumicino, and an A320neo featuring interiors by Italian car designer Walter De Silva.
