Virgin Australia says it is proud to expand its partnership with Air Canada to offer seamless travel between Australia and Canada for the first time.

Virgin Australia has been strategic partners with the national carrier of Canada since 2017, and from this week, customers can book flights on a single ticket at www.virginaustralia.com to the country’s most iconic destinations, including Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and more.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members can continue to earn and redeem points when travelling on eligible Air Canada services between Australia and Canada, the United States and Central America.

The expanded partnership means Virgin Australia customers can now travel to more than 500 destinations around the world on services operated by Virgin Australia and its partner airlines.

Virgin Australia also partners with Qatar Airways, Etihad, Hawaiian, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Hainan Airlines.

Virgin Australia is expected to soon announce a partnership also with All Nippon Airways (ANA), coinciding with the launch of flights between Cairns and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, scheduled for late June.

Flying direct to Tokyo’s Haneda , the route will add over 30,000 additional inbound visitors into Cairns every year, delivering a major boost for the local tourism industry, Virgin Australia has said.

The Australian airline plans to operate the route using new Boeing 737 Max 8 single aisle aircraft for the almost 8hr journey to Tokyo.
