Dubai-based carrier flydubai has unveiled designs for The Business Suite, a new business class product that is set to give passengers “added comfort, privacy and an exceptional onboard experience”.

The Business Suite has been designed exclusively for single-aisle aircraft and will offer a lie-flat bed (23.8 inches x 75 inches) along with direct aisle access to all passengers. It will also have a taller hard shell enclosure and a sliding door to enhance privacy.

Ambient lighting has been incorporated into the shell of the seat, as well as under the ottoman and inside personal stowage areas, so the entire suite has a relaxing ambience.

Bluetooth capability will allow the use of personal headphones, with a 17-inch 4K built-in touchscreen to enjoy the IFE, and wireless charging capabilities.

The new product is expected to debut on the airline’s newest aircraft towards the end of 2023.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer at flydubai, said: “Our business and product offerings have evolved from the initial no-frills model over the past 14 years to cater to the ever-growing needs of our customers and the markets we operate to.

“We have come a long way since the introduction of our first business class offering in 2013, which has served us well. Today, we are proud to unveil a new premium product which rivals the business class experience offered by many airlines on wide-body aircraft. We will continue to invest in innovation to enhance the customer experience across our growing fleet.”

The carrier operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet, with around 34 B737-800s, 46 B737 Max 8 and 9 aircraft, and more than 100 B737 Max on order.

Flydubai is the launch customer for this brand-new seat design, which has been created by Safran Seats and JPA Design.

Victoria Foy, CEO of Safran Seats, said: “We are very excited to have flydubai as our launch customer for ‘The Business Suite’ VUE seat, it has been an exciting journey working together to bring this product to the market for the first time on a Boeing aircraft.”

Initially, 10 suites will be installed on each aircraft, and the first of these should be in the skies by November. The new business class product will be available on up to six aircraft by the first quarter of 2024, and will be scheduled on longer flights around the flydubai network.
