Minor Hotels has outlined plans to grow its Avani brand in Europe and Latin America, with a total of seven properties joining the portfolio by mid-2024.
This year the group is set to add Avani hotels in Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan and Venice, followed by properties in Amsterdam, Cancun and Bogota in 2024.
The rapid expansion will be made possible through the rebranding of existing hotels – the 101-room Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid Hotel and the 65-room Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan Hotel are both set to be unveiled in June, followed by the 144-room Avani Rio Novo Venice Hotel this summer, and the 256-room Avani Frankfurt City Hotel “later in the year”.
Next year will see the rebranding of the 163-room Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam Hotel in the second quarter, followed by the addition of the 140-room Avani Cancun Airport Hotel in Q3, and the 66-room Avani Royal Zona T Bogota Hotel in Q4.
The Avani brand was launched in 2011, and currently has 38 properties in 20 countries across Australasia, the Middle East, Indian Ocean and Africa.
The first – and to date only – Avani hotel in Europe opened in Lisbion in 2017, itself a rebranding of the former Tivoli Jardim Lisboa Hotel.
According to Minor Hotels the Avani brand “was created to meet the tastes and needs of millennial-minded travellers”, with features including the AvaniFit wellness concept, gran and go offering The Pantry, and al fresco casual dining experiences for couples and groups under the Avani PopUp branding.
Commenting on the news Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, said:
“Avani is now a well-established brand in Asia, Africa and the Middle East and known for its great value proposition, its design philosophy and unique service offering.
“The work of recent years has prepared us to commit strategically to the expansion of Avani’s footprint into new regions of operation and marks a significant milestone for Minor Hotels.”
