ITA Airways has been busy this week, unveiling new uniforms, a new lounge at Rome Fiumicino, and an A320neo featuring interiors by Italian car designer Walter De Silva.
The uniforms were created by Italian luxury fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli, who “offered the company and the country his creativity free of charge”.
For the men’s uniform consists of “trimly fitted trousers worn with a one-and-a-half-breasted jacket, distinctive note of the male wardrobe”, while for the women’s clothing “a matching set of jacket and pants was chosen to go with the skirt, balancing refined sartorial elegance with a contemporary touch given by the trim lines and volumes”.
ITA said that an “art wears sustainability” initiative will see independent artists at Italian fashion and design institutes creating works of art from the carrier’s old uniforms.
Meanwhile the airline also unveiled a new A320neo aircraft, named after figure-skating champion Carolina Kostner and with interiors by Walter De Silva, “inspired by the pleasant sensations of comfort, elegance and simplicity, but above all by materials and colours”.
Finally ITA also unveiled the Hangar Lounge, its fourth airport lounge and third at Rome Fiumicino.
The 980 sqm facility is located in boarding area A in the Schengen section of the airport, and can accommodate 150 guests.
Features include a visual installation consisting of 72 blue ITA Airways tablets with videos of the carrier’s destinations, as well as central island hot buffet, a 30-metre bar offering cocktails created by the Campari Group, Poltrona Frau armchairs, shower facilities, workstations with USB and charging outlets, and a VIP conference room.
The lounge is open daily between 0600 and 2300 for business class passengers, Executive and Premium members of the Volare loyalty programme, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members. Access can also be purchased via ita-airways.com or at the lounge for those in possession of an ITA Airways ticket.
Commenting on the news Fabio Lazzerini, CEO and general director of ITA Airways, said:
“ITA Airways celebrates an important achievement in its growth: today we’re showcasing the new interiors of our Airbus A320neo of the latest generation, the ITA Airways uniforms, now worn by all our cabin crew, and the new Hangar Lounge.
“We are as excited as we were on the first day, a little over a year ago, when we watched the takeoff of our first flight, with the clear ambition to deserve the role of Italian flagship airline, to be ambassadors of Made in Italy in the world.
“The mark of Italian style is on the entire travel experience with ITA Airways, from the moment our customers enter the airport until they reach their destination.
“The Lounge is designed to be an integral part of that experience. The customer is able to recognize and appreciate the distinctive elements that make ITA Airways unique: the completely Italian reception, style and quality of our product”.
