Accor has opened the latest UK property under its midscale Mercure brand.

The new-build Mercure Paignton overlooks the seaside town’s promenade, pier and beach, around ten minutes’ walk from Paignton station with direct links to London Paddington.

The 161-room hotel has been inspired by the golden age of The English Riviera, with interiors including dark wood, brass finishes and vintage local graphics.

Guest room categories include the Privilege room, which offer “extraordinary coastal views”.

All day dining restaurant Latitude 50 has an outdoor terrace and views of the Tor Bay, and other facilities include a fitness centre and two events spaces accommodating up to 35 guests.

Business Traveller will be visiting the hotel next month, and a Tried and Tested review will appear on this site in due course.

The Mercure portfolio currently counts over 810 properties worldwide, with nearly 80 hotels under the brand in the UK.

In 2019 Accor announced an agreement with real estate property group Proark to rebrand six Park Inn hotels in the UK under its Mercure portfolio, in locations including Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff, Bedford, Telford and Harlow.
