Aer Lingus is in the process of moving from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7 at New York’s JFK airport.
This page on the carrier’s website confirms that flights from Manchester to JFK are now arriving into T7, although services departing the New York hub for Manchester will continue to depart from T5 until April 26.
Then from April 27 all of Aer Lingus’ flights between Ireland and JFK will switch from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7.
Fellow IAG member carrier British Airways recently switched from JFK’s Terminal 7 to join American Airlines at the revamped Terminal 8, and it is understood that Aer Lingus will take over BA’s former Concorde room at T7.
Note that the Irish carrier has established codeshare agreements with JetBlue and American Airlines – which continue to operate from Terminal 5 and Terminal 8 respectively.
Aer Lingus advises that on flights with these airlines baggage will be transferred to its final destinations, with customers able to transfer between the terminals using the free AirTrain.
However they will need to clear US customs at T7 before proceeding to either T5 or T8 where they will also need to go through TSA security.
The move from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7 is a temporary one, as Aer Lingus is set to move into the new Terminal 6 when it opens in 2026.
This week the carrier increased capacity on its flights between Manchester and New York JFK for the summer season.
The airline has begun deploying an Airbus A330 aircraft on the route to increase seat capacity on each flight by 72 per cent, compared with the previous A321LR.
