Blacklane, the chauffeur hailing service which operates in more than 50 countries, has launched its first all-electric fleet in Dubai.

The newly launched on-demand service that makes use of a fleet of Mercedes EQS cars is initially available in DIFC, Downtown Dubai, D3, Business Bay and DXB Airport, with plans to roll out the service across the city later this year.

Blacklane’s chauffeur hailing services include one-way trips, return journeys, airport transfers, hourly and daily bookings within Dubai as well as inter-emirate travel, that can be booked with a 60-minute lead time.

The pricing for the route is fixed at the time of booking and there are no additional costs above that displayed at the time of booking.

“We have successfully serviced hundreds of thousands of customers across the Middle East in the past five years,” says Nicolas Soucaille, general manager of the UAE market. “As part of our commitment to the environment, we are proud to offer an all-electric fleet, which will dramatically reduce carbon emissions.”

In September last year, Blacklane launched its own Chauffeur Training Academy, to train all its chauffeurs, which also includes female chauffeurs. In December, Blacklane announced that the UAE-based Gargash Group along with Mercedes-Benz Mobility became investors into Blacklane via a series F financing that brought to Blacklane “a significant million-dollar investment in double digits at a valuation roughly 50 per cent higher than the previous one from 2020.” The investment facilitated Blacklane’s transition to EVs.

Dr. Jens Wohltorf, co-founder and CEO of Blacklane, said: “We are strategically investing in the important Middle East market as a test bed to introduce new offerings which will diversify our business model and allow us to expand and open new markets.”
