Austrian Airlines has outlined plans to bring back its business class Flying Chef service from next month.

The DO & CO-employed chefs have been absent from Austrian long-haul flights for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but are set to be phased back in from April.

To start with the Flying Chefs will “curate” the current business class service on long-haul routes, but from this summer customers will benefit from “a completely newly designed catering service”.

Business Traveller last reviewed Austrian Airlines’ long-haul business class service in 2016, when our correspondent proclaimed the Flying Chef-prepared dining experience “one of the best inflight meals I’ve ever had”.

Commenting on the news Austrian Airlines’ CCO Michael Trestl, said:

“With our crews’ unique charm and an unforgettable gourmet experience we want to offer our guests a high-end service with a special Austrian touch.

“Finally the “Flying Chefs” by DO & CO will be part of our Business Class product on long-haul flights again.”
