The Ritz-Carlton is set to open in Fukuoka on June 21, 2023, the first luxury hotel from Marriott in Japan’s southern Kyushu region.
The 167-room hotel will be located in Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City complex, an important site within the Tenjin “Big Bang site” – a tech hub which offers tax breaks and other regulatory incentives to encourage foreign business start-ups.
The hotel is also conveniently located 15 minutes from Fukuoka Airport, Hakata Station (with bullet train services), and Hakata Port.
The hotel’s 147 guest rooms and 20 suites will be positioned on floors 19-23 of the tower, with standard rooms beginning at a minimum size of 50 sqm. Calm yet modern interiors by Layan Architects + Designers of Melbourne, Australia will incorporate local arts such as hakata-ori (traditional woven textiles) and woven bamboo.
A club lounge, spa, gym, and pool will be located on the 24th floor, along with a bar that offers views over Hakata Bay.
For F&B, the hotel will feature a Japanese restaurant serving teppanyaki, sushi, and kaiseki (multi-course) menus; an all-day dining venue for Western-style cuisine; a lobby lounge and bar for cocktails and light refreshments; and a café for afternoon tea and takeout options.
This will be the sixth The Ritz-Carlton branded property in Japan, following openings in Osaka (1997), Tokyo (2007), Okinawa (2012), Kyoto (2014), and Nikko (2020).
