Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY has announced plans for its first route to Scotland this summer.

The airline will launch a four-times-weekly A320 neo service from Reykjavik’s Keflavik airport to Glasgow on May 26.

Flights to the Scottish city will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Passengers will then be able to connect on to its flights to Boston, Baltimore, New York Stewart International and Washington DC in the US, with a Toronto route set to join the airline’s network in June.

Meanwhile, Icelandair operates flights to Glasgow five times per week.

Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, commented:

“As we continue to expand our network, PLAY is proud to announce the addition of Glasgow to our growing list of destinations. With our focus on affordability and convenience, passengers can experience our on-time performance and safe, reliable service while exploring Scotland’s vibrant city. We are excited to bring a new travel option to passengers, connecting them directly to and from Keflavik to Glasgow and to and from our routes across North America.”

By this summer, the airline’s fleet will consist of ten A320 and A321 neo, with an average age of approximately two and a half years.
