Virgin Atlantic has launched a new service allowing Flying Club members to check the availability of reward seats on their chosen routes and dates.

The tool can be accessed via the Flying Club drop down menu on the carrier’s homepage, or directly via travelplus.virginatlantic.com/reward-flight-finder.

Customers can input the route, the month of travel and whether they are looking to fly with Virgin Atlantic or partner Delta, and are then presented with a calendar showing the number of rewards seats available on each day, across economy, Premium and Upper Class.

The service works for all direct Virgin Atlantic and Delta flights from the UK.

Business Traveller tried out the took for travel between Heathrow and New York JFK in April, and was shown the following results.

The only downside is that visitors cannot currently click directly on the calendar date within the Reward Seat Checker to book their ticket – they then need to navigate back to the website’s Reward Seat Points search, input their preferred dates and continue with the booking.

The new tool follows the carrier’s launch of guaranteed reward seat availability last year, which promises a minimum of 12 reward seats will be offered on every flight across the carrier’s global network when the flight goes on sale.

This includes two seats in Upper Class, two in Premium and eight in economy.

Virgin Atlantic adds guaranteed reward seat availability on all flights

Commenting on the news Anthony Woodman, VP Flying Club and CRM, Virgin Atlantic, commented;

“The introduction of our new Reward Seat Checker will provide our loyalist members with one of the most accessible, user-friendly methods to search reward seat availability in the industry.  This is just the beginning, as we continue to explore further ways to improve our Flying Club user experience.

“We’re committed to rewarding those who choose to fly with Virgin Atlantic and will continue to speak with our valued members to ensure we offer the best loyalty proposition in the skies.”
