Swiss International Air Lines has announced it will launch new long-haul cabins dubbed ‘SWISS senses’ in 2025.
The new cabin interiors will see brand new first, business and economy products, alongside the existing premium economy product that was introduced in 2022.
SWISS will begin retrofitting its long-haul fleet of Airbus A330-300 aircraft in 2025, followed by the carrier’s Boeing 777-300ERs. The airline’s new Airbus A350-900’s, which are also due to be delivered in 2025, will arrive with the new cabins.
The news follows the official unveiling of Lufthansa’s Allegris cabins earlier this week, with SWISS intending to follow the same model as its fellow Lufthansa Group carrier, updated with individual design and style points.
“This is the most comprehensive cabin renewal in the history of our company,” said SWISS CEO Dieter Vranckx.
“As a premium airline, we want to pay due and full regard to our customers’ desire for more individuality. And with this extremely high-quality product, we can continue to meet all our high aspirations.”
The enclosed SWISS first class suites will feature private sliding doors and 1.8 metre high walls, complete with personal wardrobe, individual seat heating and cooling technology, wireless charging station and an IFE screen that is as wide as the suite.
Individual seats will be 77cm wide and stretch into a two-metre bed, while the centre suites will be configured for two people with a double bed that is 117cm wide and an enormous 43-inch IFE screen. New washrooms will also be introduced.
SWISS Senses business class seats will all have direct aisle access and will feature new technology highlights such as individual temperature control and wireless charging.
As with Lufthansa, the new business class will see a high variety of seating options, which SWISS says has been “intentionally conceived to meet a wide range of wishes and needs”.
In addition to the classic business class seat (80cm in width and a two-metre bed), this will include privacy seats that can be enclosed with a private sliding door, extra-long beds, extra space seats, and double seats for passengers travelling together. IFE screens will be 17 inches with 4K resolution.
The new SWISS economy cabin will feature “comfortable and functional seats” with an increased seat pitch, 48-50cm in width, and a 7-inch recline. It will also come with additional storage options, new 13-inch IFE screens, and USB charging ports.
The design brief across the cabins was “warm minimalism”, resulting in a colour palette of deep red, dark grey and beige, alongside the use of natural materials.
All classes will benefit from new “human-centric lighting” designed to alleviate jet lag, and improved connectivity options for personal devices.
