Etihad Airways has announced a number of new European routes that will be launched from its hub in Abu Dhabi this summer as it seeks to expand its destination network.

It will introduce of a new direct service between Abu Dhabi and Lisbon starting July 2, 2023.

The airline will be connecting Abu Dhabi to Portugal’s capital city with three weekly flights scheduled to be operated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

Apart from the flights to Lisbon, Etihad Airways will also be returning to Malaga on the Spanish Costa del Sol and the Greek island of Mykonos this summer.

Etihad Airways will operate twice-weekly flights to Malaga on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting June 18

Also, the airline will be launching flights to Mykonos with twice-weekly services on Mondays and Fridays from June 16 onwards.

With the addition of new routes to Lisbon, Malaga and Mykonos, Etihad Airways will be operating nearly 160 weekly flights to 21 destinations in Europe this summer, with 20 per cent more seats available than in 2022.

Etihad is in the midst of strengthening its European network this year. From May 1, the airline will add an extra four services a week to its current daily frequency, bringing the total number of weekly flights to Frankfurt up to 11. It has also announced plans to launch routes to the Danish capital Copenhagen and the western German city of Dusseldorf. Both routes will commence in October 2023, with flights to Copenhagen operating four times weekly and those to Dusseldorf operating thrice-weekly.
