Langham Hospitality Group has begun construction on its first Italian hotel, located in the northeastern city of Venice.

The Lagoon-front property will be housed within the former Casino Mocenigo and Murano glass factory on the island of Murano, and is scheduled to open in 2026 – three years later than initially planned.

Renovations are being overseen by Milan-based architecture and design studio Matteo Thun and Partners, with a restoration of the Renaissance buildings and the casino’s original 16th century frescoes. The Langham property will also retain and restore the original facades of the old glass furnace buildings, including their original wooden trusses.

The restored buildings will wrap around a central private courtyard with a 20-metre outdoor pool. Features will include 133 rooms and suites, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and a rooftop alfresco bar. There will also be a private cooking school and two meeting spaces, which will include views of either the laguna or the central courtyard.

The Langham Hospitality Group currently has more than 30 projects either confirmed or in development stage. Last year the group launched its upper midscale brand Ying’nFlo, aimed at millennial and Generation Z travellers:
