Air Arabia Abu Dhabi has confirmed that it will launch a new route from the capital of the UAE to the Indian city of Kolkata starting next month.

From March 15, the low-cost carrier will operate thrice-weekly flights connecting Abu Dhabi International airport and Kolkata airport.

The route will be operated using its Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline has a fleet of A320 and A321 neo-LR aircraft.

Kolkata is the seventh destination in India that Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will fly to, with the others being Cochin, Calicut, Trivandrum, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Adel Al Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said: “Kolkata is a vibrant city, and this new service will enable us to provide our customers base with more convenient and affordable opportunities for business, leisure, and cultural exchange between the two countries.”

With the Kolkata service, the airline’s route network will grow to 28 destinations.

Over the last few weeks, it has announced several new routes. It said that from March 12, it will operate thrice-weekly flights to Amman in Jordan on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

In December, it began twice-weekly flights to Tashkent. That same month, it also commenced direct services from Abu Dhabi to Koltsovo International airport and Kazan International airport in Russia.
