Fatima Zahra Muhammad, general manager at Salaam Properties, said: “We are delighted to partner with Ascott, the global expert in the extended stay and serviced apartments segment of the hospitality sector, to introduce the first Citadines in Djibouti. Djibouti has a tremendous need for hotel apartments with international standards to meet the business travellers’ growing demand, and Salaam Properties is poised through its strategic alliance with Ascott, to further enhance the hospitality offerings within the city.”

Vincent Miccolis, managing director for Middle East, Africa, Turkey and India at The Ascott Limited, added: “Citadines is one of our most popular brands amongst travellers across the world, offering guests the flexibility and practicality of a serviced apartment with hotel services and locally influenced experiences. We are confident that Citadines City Centre Djibouti will become a highly sought-after destination for both global and local travellers.”

In an exclusive interview last year with Business Traveller, Miccolis revealed that in H1 2022, they launched five properties across five different countries on three continents under our Somerset and Citadines brands. “Ascott’s three core brands – Ascott The Residence, Somerset Serviced Residence and Citadines Apart’hotel – continue to stay as the prime growth vehicle in the MEAT region. The recent launch of our Citadines revamp introduced new brand signatures that would encapsulate the versatility of a Citadines property anywhere in the world. There is also a considerable peak in the demand for co-living spaces within the urbanised, first-tier cities of the region, and we are introducing our co-brand ‘Lyf’ to cater to this next generation of travellers. We are currently in talks to introduce this brand to our region in the very near future,” said Miccolis.
