Accor and Ennismore’s Mondrian brand is set to debut in Singapore this March, with a property in the Duxton Hills neighbourhood.

Mondrian Singapore Duxton features design by Los Angeles-based Studio Carter, which combines historic architecture from traditional Singaporean shophouses with modern, contemporary influences.

The property will also include an art collection with works from both emerging and established Singaporean and international artists. The 304 rooms and suites will feature design inspired by Singapore’s traditional architecture, with contemporary takes on heritage arches and shutters. Amenities will include minibars, Lavazza coffee machines and Malin + Goetz amenities.

Robbyn Carter of the design firm commented:

“It’s a beautiful merger of the botanical green city, the shophouses, the cultural convergence, the new with the historical.”

Rather than a traditional lobby, guests will encounter Italian restaurant Bottega di Carna and a bar when they arrive. Renowned butcher Dario Cecchini will preside over the restaurant, which will also feature an open kitchen with prime cuts showcased in display cabinets.

Additional F&B venues will include the Jungle Ballroom tropical bar, which is accessible by a secret tunnel and features a ‘sunken lava stone bar’; and all-day spot Christina’s, which will offer local artisanal produce and wine and cocktails by night.

Guests will also be able to enjoy fresh seafood dishes, cocktails and California-inspired fare at the Canyon Club, a rooftop bar inspired by 1970s Hollywood, which includes sweeping views of the Singapore skyline and poolside cabanas.

The hotel marks the brand’s first property in Southeast Asia, and follows its debut in Asia Pacific in 2020 with the Mondrian Seoul Itaewon.

The Mondrian brand, which currently has a portfolio of seven hotels, is set to more than double its footprint by 2023 with upcoming openings in Bordeaux, Cannes, Ibiza and Australia’s Gold Coast.

Accor formed a joint venture with UK-based developer Ennismore in 2021, creating what it called “the world’s fastest-growing lifestyle hospitality company”.
