American Express has reopened its Centurion lounge at San Francisco International airport, following work to renovate and expand the facility.

The 1,500 sqm lounge has been nearly doubled in size, and features more seating, and a new bar offering specialty wine flights curated by sommelier and Centurion Lounge wine director Anthony Giglio.

The renovated facility showcases two floor-to-ceiling wallcoverings by abstract artist Tracie Cheng, and the lounge’s interior design has been inspired by “the local vineyards, landscape, and the iconic San Francisco fog to give guests a sense of relaxation”.

The additional second bar will offer wine flights highlighting four regional wines on a seasonal rotating basis, starting with a Sonoma Chardonnay Flight including Gundlach Bundschu Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2020, and a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Flight including Emblem Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.

There is also a new seasonal menu from San Francisco’s Liholiho Yacht Club Executive Chef Ravi Kapu, including Kochujang marinated chicken thighs, wild rice and coconut soup, and black vinegar and honey glazed baby carrots.

The Centurion Lounge at SFO is located on the mezzanine level within Terminal 3, and is open daily between 0500 and 2100.

Amex recently rebranded its International Airport lounges at Melbourne and Sydney airports under the Centurion portfolio, as part of a wider move to bring all of the firm’s lounges under the Centurion brand, which now consists of over 40 locations worldwide.

Commenting on the reopening Pablo Rivero, vice president and general manager, Global Lounge Experiences, said:

“We’re excited to head into the new year with the opening of our Centurion Lounge at San Francisco International Airport.

“With exceptional food, wine and art inspired by Northern California, this well-appointed lounge is designed to leave Card Members feeling refreshed and ready for their travels.”
