British Airways has announced plans to fly between London Heathrow and Florence in summer 2023.

The carrier will operate a daily service on the route from April 26, 2023, using an A320 neo aircraft.

Schedules are as follows:

  • Flight BA525 departs Heathrow T5 at 0750, arriving into Florence at 1100
  • Flight BA524 departs Florence at 1150, arriving into Heathrow T5 at 1305

It means that in total BA will operate flights from Heathrow to 11 Italian cities in summer 2023, including Rome, Milan, Venice and Naples.

Return fares start from £114 and are available to book from today.

The new service will join the carrier’s existing year-round flights from London City to Florence, as well as the airline’s existing seasonal flights to the city from Edinburgh.

Aeroitalia recently launched flights between London Heathrow and Florence, while Vueling flies to the City of Lillies from Gatwick.

Commenting on the news Neil Chernoff, director of networks and alliances at British Airways, said:

“We know our customers love visiting Tuscany, which is why we already operate flights from London City to Florence. We’ve added this new route from London Heathrow to the Tuscan capital to offer them even more choice to explore this incredible Italian region.

“Not only is this good news for UK travellers, but also for those connecting in London to and from US destinations. The flights’ timings have been optimised for connectivity to popular routes, including New York, Boston and Chicago.”
