Wizz Air has announced plans to fly from London to the French city of Nice next year.

The daily service from Gatwick airport will commence on March 26, 2023, with fares starting from £26.99 each way.

Schedules vary, with an early evening flight from Gatwick on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and morning departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Wizz opened its Gatwick base in October 2020, and currently offers 25 routes from the airport.

The Hungarian carrier will join British Airways and Easyjet on the Gatwick-Nice route.

Air France serves the French coastal city from Heathrow, while BA also flies from Heathrow and London City (seasonal), Easyjet operates flights from Belfast International (seasonal), Bristol, Edinburgh (seasonal), Liverpool, Luton and Manchester, and Ryanair flies from Stansted.

Jet 2 serves Nice from Leeds Bradford and Manchester (both seasonal), and is also set to launch flights from Birmingham in May 2023.

Commenting on the news Marion Geoffroy, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said:

“We are thrilled to announce our new route from Gatwick Airport to Nice. This is an important expansion to our network as it will offer passengers the chance to fly with us directly to the French Riviera ahead of the summer season.

“With stunning beaches and a charming old town, there’s something to appeal to everyone visiting. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our young, efficient, and sustainable aircraft as they travel over this festive period and in the New Year.”

This week Wizz Air also launched its new service between London Luton airport and Amman.
