Marriott International has debuted its luxury St Regis brand in the capital of Indonesia, located within the Golden Triangle of Jakarta.

The 282-room St Regis Jakarta is situated amongst foreign embassies, government and commercial spaces as well as upscale retail areas.

Interiors by New York-based designer Alexandra Champalimaud draw inspiration from Indonesia’s musical traditions. The lobby, for instance, has a ‘Sound of Light’ kinetic chandelier, created by Czech glassmaker Lasvit, which synchronises with music by Indonesian composer Andi Rianto.

Outdoor spaces, meanwhile, feature artworks by landscape architect Bill Bentley on the theme of ‘discovery’.

Guest rooms have been designed by G A Design in a contemporary style and feature custom-made cushions with embedded batik motifs by Indonesian designer Iwan Tirta, while 28 suites include private balconies.

Dining venues include The Drawing Room, located near the arrival lobby, which offers all-day dining, afternoon tea and Champagne sabrage; all-day dining Bel Etage which offers Indonesian dishes alongside western, Asia and Pan-Asian cuisine; and deli-style Rosé which serves artisanal coffees, teas, pastries and cold cuts.

The property also has a pool bar and its signature St Regis bar, which features a jazz-inspired mural by Indonesian artist Eddy Susanto and serves the Batavia Mary cocktail – a twist on the Bloody Mary and named after the old colonial name for Jakarta. The bar also offers a menu of cocktails from the House of Astor in New York and guests are invited to enjoy a collection of martinis served from a bespoke trolley during ‘The Violet Hour Ritual’.

There is more than 2,500 sqm of meeting and event spaces, including two ballrooms. The Astor Ballroom features a Lasvit ceiling artwork depicting the mountains of Indonesia and has capacity for over 1,000 people.

Leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, spa and fitness centre with Technogym equipment.

George Fleck, VP and global brand leader, St Regis Hotels and Resorts, commented:

“We are delighted to expand our brand presence in Indonesia with the debut of The St. Regis Jakarta, our second property in this vibrant country.

“The St. Regis brand’s founding family, the Astors, were known as visionaries of their time, embracing change and innovation while maintaining a strong sense of history and heritage. It is in this spirit that we welcome guests to enjoy The St. Regis Jakarta, and we look forward to providing impeccable service and exquisite experiences in Indonesia’s capital city.”

Marriott International operates over 50 hotels and resorts under its St Regis brand.
