The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts has unveiled its newly renovated Loft Suites at its Singapore property.

The eight double-storey suites have been designed by Aston Design and draw inspiration from two of Singapore’s flowers. Half of the suites have a pastel pink colour scheme, paying tribute to the pink bougainvillea, while the remaining four feature a delicate light blue tone inspired by the butterfly pea.

The suites also feature floral accents throughout – from Celadon vases with floral designs in the alcoves at each suite’s curved staircase to framed botanical illustrations and decorative jars with blue floral motifs on the upper floors.

Photographic prints by Singaporean architectural and heritage photographer Marjorie Doggett, depicting the cityscape in the 1950s, are on display throughout the suites.

The original architecture has been retained, with high ceilings and spiral staircases leading from the living room on the lower floor to the bedroom above. There are double-height French doors in each living room which open on to a verandah flanked by 20-foot Doric columns on either side.

Gino Tan, country general manager, commented:

“As a custodian of heritage, we have thoughtfully designed the Loft Suites to preserve their historic charm and introduced special touches which allow guests to rediscover Singapore’s past and embrace the beauty of its present.

“The colour palettes inspired by two of the city’s iconic flowers create an air of sophistication and romance, offering the perfect setting for an unforgettable bridal experience or elegant corporate event, surrounded by the rich heritage of the Fullerton Building and the beautiful city skyline.”

David Edwards, managing director of Aston Design, added:

“Tasked with redefining the Loft Suites – which occupy some of the most unique parts of the historic building – we configured the spaces to provide generous areas for living and entertaining, and intimate retreats for resting, coupled with panoramic views through the grand colonnade of the hotel’s east façade. It was a privilege to once again be entrusted with distilling this magnificent building’s cultural prominence into a hospitality experience that truly befits this historic landmark.”

The Fullerton Building is a grand neoclassical landmark built in 1928 that once housed the General Post Office, Exchange Room, Chamber of Commerce and prestigious Singapore Club. Today, it houses the 400-room heritage hotel, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

Fullerton Hotels has an additional property in Singapore, located in the Marina Bay area, as well as a hotel in Sydney and the recently opened Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong.
