Hyatt to debut all-inclusive Dreams brand in Portugal

Hyatt has announced plans for the first hotel under its Inclusive Collection portfolio in Portugal.

The 366-room Dreams Madeira Resort Spa and Marina will open in early 2024 following renovation of an existing property on the island of Porto Santo.

Facilities will include more than ten a la carte restaurants, as well as seven bars, an onsite water park and 3,000 sqm spa.

The resort will also offer adults-only areas, as well as “reserved spaces for preferred guests looking for an even more elevated guest experience”.

The property will be managed by Apple Leisure Group, which was acquired by Hyatt in 2021 and which owns the AMR Collection of brands including Dreams Resorts and Spas, Zoetry Wellness and Spa Resorts, Vivid Hotels and Resorts, and Secrets Resorts and Spas.

The news follows Hyatt’s recent announcement that it will add five existing Bulgarian hotels to its Inclusive Collection, with the Black Sea resort properties expected to join the collection by 2024 following “significant renovations”.

The group has also outlined plans for the growth of the collection in Latin America and the Caribbean over the next few years.

Commenting on the news Javier Coll, group president of Apple Leisure Group overseeing Global Business Development and Innovation, said:

“Portugal represents an ideal destination to bolster our position as a leader in the luxury all-inclusive category, while growing our brand footprint in sought-after destinations that matter to our guests, World of Hyatt members, customers, owners and operators.”

Major hotel brands have been increasingly moving into the luxury all-inclusive market, with Accor launching its All-Inclusive Collection earlier this year, and Marriott planning to double the company’s presence in the all-inclusive segment to 33 properties by 2025.

Wyndham also recently launched another all-inclusive brand in partnership with Playa Hotels and Resorts, a leading owner, operator and developer in Mexico and the Caribbean, going by the name of Alltra (which stands for ‘All-Inclusive Travel for All’).

And in September Melia Hotels International launched a new all-inclusive brand in partnership with global entertainment development company Falcon’s Beyond.
