British Airways has touched down in Tokyo for the first time in 12 months.

Flight BA7 from London Heathrow arrived at Tokyo Haneda airport this morning at 0743 local time.

This marks the first passenger flight from London since November 2021. Japan lifted its restrictions on international travellers in October, meaning that triple vaccinated visitors no longer need a Covid-19 test to enter and do not have to be part of a packaged tour.

While the first flight was operated by a B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, the daily flights will be serviced by B787-9 aircraft. The return flight departs the Japanese capital at 0945 and lands back into London at 1525.

Return fares start from £610 in economy, £1,708 in premium economy and £3,141 in business class.

Meanwhile Finnair recently boosted its Tokyo services from seven to nine flights a week due to the reopening of the country’s borders.
