The Peninsula Hotels is set to debut in Istanbul on February 14, 2023.

The hotel is located along the banks of the Bosphorus in the city’s revitalised waterfront district, Galataport – home to various museums, art galleries, restaurants, boutiques and a cruise ship port.

The hotel’s 177 rooms are spread across four separate buildings, three of which are protected historical landmarks dating to the early 1900s and each renovated and restored in collaboration with The Heritage Board to ensure the design maintains the local history and culture.

The design is inspired by its local surroundings such as the Bosphorus boats and the city’s Grand Bazaar, and includes artwork from renowned and up-and-coming Turkish artists.

Rooms and suites will feature bespoke furnishings, original art, sustainable custom-fragranced bath products, modern Turkish design elements such as wood and mother-of-pearl inlay, kilim-style carpets and Marmara marble-clad bathrooms, as well as multi-lingual touchscreen control panels.

Meetings and events facilities will include a ballroom, two intimate conference rooms, private dining and wine-tasting areas and several alfresco spaces overlooking the Bosphorus.

Dining venues will comprise a rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as a main dining room, offering Turk-Asian cuisine, plus the Lobby restaurant which will serve afternoon tea and globally-inspired dishes amid double-height 8.4-metre ceilings, and water views from the main and mezzanine levels.

There will also be a 1,675 sqm spa and wellness centre with hammams, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool and eight private treatment rooms. Guests can also use an on-site fitness centre, opt for the in-room wellness programmes via the ‘wellness portal’, or swim in the 25-metre outdoor swimming pool.

Clement Kwok, managing director and CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, commented:

“As a long-term investor, we spend many years selecting the best location for a Peninsula hotel. We are excited to expand our global presence with the opening of The Peninsula Istanbul, together with our esteemed local partners, Dogus and Bilgili.

“Istanbul is a dynamic multicultural city with thousands of years of history and culture, combined with a youthful and vibrant energy. We have spent a lot of time and effort to meticulously restore this beautiful property on the Bosphorus and we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to experience our world-renowned Peninsula hospitality.”

The heritage property is also within walking distance of historic landmarks such as Galata Tower, Galata Bridge, The Hagia Sophia Mosque, The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace.

The Peninsula Hotels portfolio comprises 10 hotels in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Paris, Bangkok and Manila.
