Pendry Hotels and Resorts has opened its seventh US property, and the first in the capital Washington DC.
The 131-room hotel is situated on The Wharf, a mile-long waterfront destination on the city’s Potomac River, and features interiors “reflecting a timeless European grandeur”, as well as architecture “drawing inspiration from the iconic colonnades and limestone buildings for which the capital is known”.
F&B venues include the rooftop Moonraker restaurant and bar with waterfront views and a Japanese-inspired menu, all day dining Flora Flora taking inspiration from Mexican and Peruvian cuisine and offering views of the Potomac River, and Bar Pendry, housed within “a richly designed space drenched in moody blue and crimson hues that evoke the grandeur of a classic hotel bar”.

Other facilities include a pool terrace, a spa with five treatment rooms, a fitness centre and 7,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and events space.
Pendry Hotels launched in 2017 with the opening of the Pendry San Diego, and has since added properties in Baltimore, West Hollywood, Park City, Chicago and New York – for our Tried and Tested review of the Pendry Manhattan West, see:
Further hotels are set to open in Newport Beach in 2023, and Tampa in 2024, and Pendry is also redeveloping the Natirar Mansion (formerly owned by the King of Morocco), located around an hour from New York – which will reopen as Pendry Natirar in 2023.
Commenting on the latest opening Michael Fuerstman, co-founder of Pendry Hotels and Resorts, said:
“Washington DC is an important, culturally rich city that we have admired and frequented for years. We are honoured to contribute to the city’s cultural fabric with bold architecture and design, exciting new culinary and entertainment offerings, and our style of luxury hospitality in an incredible waterfront setting.”
