Whitbread has topped out its forthcoming Hub property on Old Marylebone Road, with the opening now expected for winter 2023.

Business Traveller first reported on the hotel back in 2018, and it had originally been expected to open in 2021.

Hub by Premier Inn Marylebone will be the 14th London property under the brand, and the tallest at some 13 storeys, offering skyline views of the capital.

Located next to Marylebone Magistrates Court and close to Edgware Road Underground station, the hotel will offer 294 rooms, as well as a publicly accessible ‘Lounge’ space on the ground floor.

Whitbread said that it expects more than 100,000 guests per year to stay at the hotel once it is established.

A number of Hub by Premier Inn hotels are currently under development in London, with forthcoming locations including Farringdon Road and the Strand.

Hub by Premier Inn to open London hotel on the Strand

Commenting on the news Alex Flach, UK development director at Whitbread, said:

“The topping out of the Marylebone Hub by Premier Inn is a significant moment for our Central London team.  It marks years of hard work by many dedicated people to acquire a former office building that once occupied the site, secure planning consent for a Hub by Premier Inn, clear the site and construct the 294-room hotel in a respectful way in a heavily constrained location.

“We still have another year of construction work ahead of us before we are ready to open, but when we do I know that we will have created a wonderful new affordable hotel for our customers to enjoy in a distinctive, vibrant, and connected part of London.

“I am confident the new Marylebone Hub by Premier Inn will be a very popular location for our guests and an excellent addition to our growing network of affordable hotels in Central London.”
