Accor and joint venture partner Ennismore have debuted their midscale lifestyle brand in Cambodia.

Tribe Phnom Penh Post Office Square is described as “a combination of a hotel and social hub”.

The lobby lounge features “bold furniture statements” with areas for work, leisure and socialising, and a co-working space.

Guests can enjoy coffee from local roasters, while the 24-hour Tribe Express sells sandwiches and healthy bites.

The 260 rooms come in six categories and all feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a Tribe signature bed, blackout blinds, sweat robes, garment steamers, Nespresso coffee machines and Kevin Murphy hair products made from Ocean Bound Material.

The rooftop, meanwhile, is home to the Hemisphere restaurant, offering international dishes, and bar Mezcal Mad Memories 21 (shortened to MMM 21).

Further facilities include the Workout Atelier fitness area, an outdoor saltwater pool overlooking the Mekong River, and a multi-functional space for private meetings and events.

On the sustainability side, the hotel does not have any single-use plastic items and takeout orders are packed with biodegradable packaging.

Sokoun Chanpreda, owner of Tribe Phnom Penh Post Office Square, commented on the opening:

“Phnom Penh is known as the Paris of the East. The city never sleeps. With its prime location and dynamic concept, Tribe Phnom Penh Post Office Square is designed for people to socialise. Both international travellers and locals can look at the hotel as a space that brings whatever they wish, whether accommodation, collaborative workspace, decompression zone, social destination, or art gallery.

“This makes the hotel truly unique within the market. Tribe Phnom Penh Post Office Square is an affordable lifestyle hotel that has its own character – from the design inspiration and music selection to the choice of local coffee roasters, each element is meticulously curated. Tribe really is all about reshaping the traditional hotel experience”.

The Tribe brand was launched in 2019, with Accor stating at the time that it would offer a “high-quality hotel experience at an affordable price,” with a “carefully curated offer that focuses on style rather than price.”

It now falls under the Ennismore lifestyle division, with which Accor formed a joint venture in 2021.

Recent openings include Tribe Paris La Défense, and Tribe Amsterdam City, located within the ‘Gare du Nord’ project in Amsterdam-North.

The brand is also set to debut in Thailand by the end of the year.
