The first hotel in Colombia under the Mama Shelter brand will open in Medellin in 2026.

Mama Shelter Medellin will be located in a mixed-use development in the city’s El Poblado neighbourhood. It will feature 150 rooms, over 3,000 sqm of co-working space, 500 sqm of meeting rooms, and a rooftop restaurant and swimming pool.

The hotel will also house a shop, where guests can purchase products to make home.

The property is located a ten-minute walk from areas such as Manila, Parque Lleras, Provenza and Patio Bonito.

Cedric Gobilliard, Brand COO of Mama Shelter at Ennismore, said:

“We’re extremely excited to bring Mama Shelter to such an energetic and iconic city like Medellín. Mama Shelter offers both international travelers and local communities a place to stay, eat and play, and we can’t wait to open our doors and offer the unique experience we are known for.”

The Mama Shelter brand was founded in 2008 by the Trigano family and designer Philippe Starck.

Accor purchased a 35 per cent stake in Mama Shelter in 2014 and now owns a 70 per cent stake. It also falls under the Ennismore lifestyle division, with which Accor formed a joint venture in 2021.

Ennismore currently operates four properties in South America, including Mama Shelter Rio de Janeiro, Jo and Joe properties in Medellin and Rio de Janeiro, and SLS Puerto Madero. The group plans to open further hotels such as Tribe Belo Horizonte and SLS Punta Del Este.
